LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas football coach Bret Bielema says he expects steady improvement from his football team as the 2014 season approaches.

The second-year Razorbacks coach said Tuesday that if his team gets better every day, it will have something to show for it at the end of the year.

He acknowledged that Arkansas could be "paper-thin" in some areas but said that is something he and other coaches are trying to overcome.

Bielema was in central Arkansas to appear before the Little Rock Touchdown Club.

He said that only two games got away from the Razorbacks last year -- against Alabama and South Carolina -- but that his team showed signs of being competitive.

Arkansas opens the season Aug. 30 at Auburn.
