BENTON, Ark. (KTHV) – The 2014-2015 school year is just weeks away, meaning police will be increasing patrols in school zones.
The Benton police say for the whole month of August they will be cracking down on speeding and distracted driving.
"We are going to be out in full force looking for any kind of violations in school zones and we'll have officers as we have in the past. Officers will be randomly assigned to get out the of their vehicles throughout the day and to walk through the schools and to let the teachers and students know that we're here if we need them," said a Benton police officer.
The Benton police say you can find information about the initiative on their Facebook. It will continue up until the Labor Day holiday.
