BRYANT, Ark. (KTHV) - When the last bell rings and school lets out, students at Bryant High School flood the bus barn to head home, and Tom Farmer is determined to make sure they make it there safely.
"We have people that run the red lights on a bus and put our children in jeopardy every day," he said.
As transportation director for Bryant School District, Farmer has led a statewide effort to promote school bus safety. The campaign started not long after an elementary student, named Isaac Brian was hit and killed when a driver illegally passed a school bus while students were unloading.
"I still think about it every day when we run a bus here at Bryant. It crosses my mind because people do not take it seriously," added Farmer.
