LITTLE ROCK AIR FORCE BASE, Ark. (KTHV) - According to officials, Little Rock Air Force Base was been placed on lockdown Wednesday afternoon. THV11 was alerted to the situation around noon, and just after 4 p.m., officials announced over a loud speaker at the base that it had been lifted.

The press release from LRAFB said, "The base is on lockdown as of 11:45 a.m. this morning in the interest of protecting all base members and resources from a suspicious individual."

Officials at LRAFB said the base was locked down because of a "suspicious individual."

A post on the base's Facebook page said in regards to the situation, "Emergency personnel are responding to the scene. For safety purposes, base gates are closed at this time. Further details will be provided as they become available."

The THV11 team gave an update live on-air at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon.

According to Military One Resource, more than 5,000 individuals are on active duty at LRAFB, which is located in the Jacksonville area.
