LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A large pig that tried to cheat death by jumping out of a trailer on a busy interstate highway in Little Rock snarled rush hour traffic for a time, but he had to be put down when he was finally rounded up.
The animal was being driven on Interstate 30 to a slaughterhouse Thursday morning. The beast seems to have shortened the time he had left, but not by much.
Arkansas State Police say the trailer wasn't enclosed and that the driver was cited for having an unsecured load.
State police spokesman Bill Sadler says the pig was hurt either when he jumped from the trailer or when he was tackled, so he had to be euthanized on the spot.
Animal control handled the carcass; firefighters washed away the blood.
