LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - New numbers reveal Arkansas is a national leader when it comes to healthcare.
According to a recent Gallup study, the number of those who do not have health insurance has dropped the most in Arkansas and Kentucky.
Arkansas' uninsured rate dropped by nearly 10 percentage points from around 22 percent last year to only 12 percent this year.
Officials say the reason is because of the state's private option plan which uses federal Medicaid funds towards low income families in the state.
However, the plan is not permanent. Lawmakers will have to renew it again next year.
