LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) –US Senator John Boozman, R-Arkansas, stopped in central Arkansas Friday to visit the VA Hospital in Little Rock.

On Thursday, President Obama signed a bill designed to improve health care for veterans into law, but Senator Boozman said there's still a lot work to be done.

"This is something we're going to have to be vigilant over for the next few years and really change the culture and get back. Always remember what we're here for is to serve veterans," Bozman told the cameras.

The legislation gives veterans the ability to seek care outside the VA system if they encounter delays. It also authorizes the agency to hire more doctors and nurses and gives it the authority to fire senior officials.

The changes come after reports of veterans dying while waiting for treatment and allegations that workers falsified records to cover up delays.
