LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – The Arkansas Kennel Club Dog Show was held Saturday night at the Arkansas State Fairgrounds.
The club, one of the oldest in the state, has been holding shows twice a year since the 1950s, and fans of the big national shows like Westminster in New York will recognize this version.
"A lot of people think these AKC dogs are all fluff, but a lot of these dogs are good strong dogs that make great pets. They like to go home and be the pet as much as they like to be in the show ring," said Bill Bennett, show chairman.
All the dogs are registered with the American Kennel Club, making them eligible to perhaps go to Westminster someday. More groups go before the judges Sunday back at Barton Coliseum.
