NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – After two suspects torched a historic slide in North Little Rock, the city now says the entire slide will be replaced.

Mayor Joe Smith said some of the infrastructure can stay, but most of the playground features will be new. A local business woman has raised $6,500 dollars to help re-build. That money along with grants, insurance and restitution should cover the costs.

"Our director of parks and the prosecuting attorney's office is working on getting restitution from the two individuals who were caught with the arson charge," explained Smith. "Manufacturers have told us it will take approximately 2 months to get here, the parts, and then it will take us another month to install it so probably a good 90 days."

The new slide will hopefully be back in business before kids are out for summer.

The suspects in the case have not yet been to court.
