SEARCY, Ark. (AP) - A Searcy man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the shooting death of his grandmother.
The Daily Citizen reports (http://bit.ly/1so3738) that 25-year-old Grant Ellis Crawford was sentenced after entering the plea Monday in the Jan. 13 shooting of 65-year-old Rachel Maples. Maples died Jan. 18 at a Little Rock hospital.
Crawford said the shooting was an accident - but acknowledged that prosecutors had enough evidence to win his conviction for on the murder charge.
