FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Senior All-American Katherine Grable has been named the South Eastern Conference (SEC) Co-Gymnast of the Week after her efforts against Kentucky. The league announced on Tuesday.
Grable put on a record performance over the weekend as she tied her own school record in the all-around of 39.275 that she shares with former All-American teammate and 2012 SEC Gymnast of the Year Jaime Pisani. This is the third SEC Gymnast of the Week honor in Grable's career.
"Katherine is amazing," co-head coach René Lyst said. "I feel like she wins this award every week."
Grable started her record night on the vault by tying the first of four career-best marks with a 9.95 to anchor the vault rotation. She then went on to the bars, where she also matched her career-best of 9.90. On the beam, she recorded a 9.925 and put her with in a 9.95 to tie her school record. Finally, Grable would cap the meet with her fourth-straight score of 9.95 on the floor and tie former teammate Pisani's record of 11 scores of 9.95 on the floor in her career and their shared record of 39.725 in the all-around.
Grable swept all five event titles for time in her career to make her season mark at 19 total event titles and her career mark of 65. Grable now has six titles on the season in both the all-around and the floor in only seven meets.
In the national rankings, Grable remained as the No. 2 overall gymnast in the country in the first edition of the Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) rankings. Her RQS score is 39.555 which is just four-hundredths of a point behind No. 1 Rheagan Courville at 39.595 of LSU who Grable has beaten in the all-around competition already this season. In the individual rankings, Grable stands at the No. 11 spot on the vault, No. 5 on the beam and No. 5 on the floor.
Grable and the Razorbacks return to action on Saturday, March 1, in Athens, Ga. against No. 6 Georgia. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
