BENTONVILLE, Ark. (Harding) - The Harding softball team defeated Oklahoma Panhandle 10-5 and Drury 5-4 on the final day of the Arkansas-Monticello Tournament. The Lady Bisons improved to 6-3 on the season.
The Harding softball team drove in 10 runs on 15 hits to get a 10-5 win over Oklahoma Panhandle on Sunday.
The Lady Bisons trailed 4-2 heading into the fourth inning but scored one in the bottom half of the inning and then hit back-to-back solo homeruns in the fifth to take a 5-4 lead. The Lady Bisons scored five runs on six hits in the bottom of six to seal the victory.
Amanda Berdon went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a homerun. She also drove in four runs. Kinsey Beck also went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Kimmy Hendricks had two hits including a homerun. It was her second one of the season.
Oklahoma Panhandle was led by Samantha Arledge who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Danielle Hubbard (3-1) got the win for Harding, pitching seven innings giving up two runs and tied a season-high with six strikeouts.
Rachel Thompson got the loss for the Aggies, pitching two innings giving up five runs with two strikeouts.
It was the second time this season Harding has hit multiple homeruns in a game. The Lady Bisons hit three against Southwest Baptist last Friday.
The Harding softball team held off Drury in the top of the seventh inning to secure a 5-4 win in the final game of the tournament.
The Panthers scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning on two doubles with two outs. With a runner on second, Drury grounded out to Harding second baseman Kinsey Beck for the third out of the inning.
Harding's big inning came in the second inning when the Lady Bisons scored four runs on five hits led by Kimmy Hendricks who drove in two runs.
Harding had 11 hits in the game, led by Brookelynn Moon went 3-for-3.
Harding's Danielle Hubbard (4-1) got the win for Harding, pitching five innings, giving up two runs on five hits and struck out four. Drury's Kailey Howard received the loss, pitching two 2/3 innings giving up all five of the Lady Bisons runs.
Harding will start Great American Conference action next weekend as they host Southern Nazarene in a four-game series starting Friday, Feb. 21.
