RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (UAM) - University of Arkansas at Monticello senior centerfielder Beth Johnson has been named the Great American Conference Softball Player of the Week after tallying seven extra base hits and leading her team to five wins at the 8-State Classic this past weekend in Bentonville, Ark.

Throughout seven games in Bentonville, Johnson went 15-for-24 (.625) with four triples, two homeruns, two doubles, 10 runs batted in and 10 runs scored. Her weekly slugging percentage was 1.292 and her weekly on base percentage was .667.

The Allen, Texas native turned in five games with at least two hits, including her best performance, a perfect 4-for-4 outing in an 8-2 win over Nebraska-Kearney on Friday. She had at least one extra base hit in six of the seven games over the weekend. She had a two-run homerun in an 8-0 win over William Jewell, a two-run triple in the win over Nebraska-Kearney, another two-run homerun in a 10-5 win over Upper Iowa, an RBI triple in a 5-3 loss to Fort Hays State, a double in a 2-0 win over Minnesota-Duluth and a triple in the second half of the Duluth double header.

Overall this season, Johnson ranks third in the GAC with a .541 batting average through 11 games. She leads the league in total hits (20), triples (four) and total bases (37), while ranking third runs scored (12) and second in RBI (13).
