ABILENE, Texas (UCA) - The University of Central Arkansas Bears pounded out 12 hits, three from Tyler Langley, and held off the Abilene Christian Wildcats 6-4 in non-conference baseball action on Friday at Crutcher Scott Field.

UCA starter Bryce Biggerstaff threw 6.2 innings, striking out six and allowing three earned runs. Chris Caudle went 1.1 innings of scoreless relief and Ben Ancheff pitched the ninth for his second save.

The Bears (2-3) fell behind 1-0 in the first inning, but came back with a three-run third inning and never trailed again. Senior shortstop Justin Treece led off with a single and stole second base. Doug Votolato's base hit to center scored Treece. Nick Ferrell hit a two-out single to right, with Votolato advancing to third and scoring on an error by ACU's second baseman.

Scott Zimmerle followed with an RBI single that brought in Ferrell for a 3-1 UCA advantage. After ACU got one run back in the bottom of the third, UCA posted two more in the fifth. Votolato started it with a single to right, stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error by the ACU catcher. Rougeau walked to bring on a new pitcher for the Wildcats.

Nick Ferrell grounded into a double play, scoring Votolato for a 4-2 lead. Zimmerle added a base hit and went to second on a wild pitch. After Wesley Hoover walked, Tyler Langley knocked in Zimmerle with a single to left field and a 5-2 lead.

Langley, who went 3 for 5 with 2 RBI, added an run-scoring double in the seventh, scoring Ferrell with UCA's final run. The Wilcats (3-1) put across two runs in the seventh inning to end Biggerstaff's night, but Caudle came in and got out of the jam.

Ancheff then allowed a leadoff hit in the bottom of the ninth but got a double play and a fly ball to end it.

Votolato, Ferrell and Zimmerle all had two hits for the Bears. Brandon Grudzielanek went 3 for 5 for the Wildcats.

UCA will face New Jersey Institute of Technology at 11 a.m. on Saturday and again on Sunday.
