ARKADELPHIA, Ark. (Harding) - The Harding softball team dropped both games of the Great American Conference doubleheader to Henderson State on Sunday. The Lady Bisons fell 5-2 and 6-5.

Harding falls to 27-22 overall and 19-17 in the GAC. Henderson State moves to 26-17 overall and 22-10.

The Lady Bisons sealed their spot in the 2014 GAC Championship Tournament on Saturday with a 9-5 win over the Lady Reddies. The tournament will be held in Bentonville, Ark., May 1-3. Harding will be fighting for seeding in the tournament with two conference series left. The Lady Bisons are currently in sixth place in the GAC standings.

Game One

Henderson State 5, Harding 2

Henderson State jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and didn't look back. The Lady Reddies scored two more in the third and had another run in the fifth.

Both of Harding's runs came in the fourth inning on two hits and an error. Marley Edwards drove in the Lady Bisons first run and then Courtney Chambers drove in Brookelynn Moon for Harding's second run.

Edwards led Harding going 3-for-3 from the plate. Courtney Derrick, Carolyn Clayton and Amanda Berdon all had a hit for the Lady Bisons.

Henderson State was led by Amber Klug who had two RBI.

Cagen Medlock (12-4) got the win for the Lady Reddies. She pitched five innings and gave up four hits and two runs. Amber Rollins (15-11) got the loss for Harding in 2 2/3rd innings pitched.

Game Two

Henderson State 6, Harding 5

Henderson State scored two in the third and four in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead. Harding rallied to score two in the fifth and one in the sixth. The Lady Bisons pulled within one on a two-run homer by Jessica Greene. It was her first collegiate home run. Harding at the tying run at second after Courtney Derrick doubled but Henderson State forced a ground ball to end the game.

Harding had six hits in the game, all by different players. Three of the hits were home runs. Along with Greene, Amanda Berdon and Courtney Chambers homered. It was the eighth time this season Harding has hit multiple homeruns in a game.

Henderson State was led by Tricia Hock who had two hits, a homerun and three RBI.

Cagen Medlock (13-4) got the win for Henderson State in four innings pitched. She gave up one hit and struck out three. Danielle Hubbard (10-10) got the loss for Harding in three innings pitched. She gave up four runs and struck out two.

Harding will play its final GAC home series next weekend. The Lady Bisons will host Ouachita Baptist on Friday is at 2 p.m.
