RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (ATU) – The Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys football team will play an 11-game schedule in 2014, hosting five home games within the friendly confines of Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field, head coach Raymond Monica announced Tuesday.
Tech will open the 2014 season on its home field with a Thursday evening matchup with Northwestern Oklahoma, kicking off at 7 p.m. on Sept. 4. The Wonder Boys hit the road the following week, meeting up with Southwestern Oklahoma in Weatherford, Okla. in a 6 p.m. matchup on Sept. 13.
After Arkansas Tech returns home on Sept. 20 for a 6 p.m. matchup with Southern Nazarene, the Wonder Boys play their lone non-conference matchup on Sept. 27 at Southland Conference member McNeese State.
The Wonder Boys host Arkansas-Monticello in a Family Day contest on Oct. 4, kicking off at 6 p.m., before heading to Magnolia, Ark. for a matchup with Southern Arkansas on Oct. 11. Tech hosts defending Great American Conference champion Henderson State in a 2 p.m. game on Oct. 18, and makes a trip to Arkadelphia, Ark. to face Ouachita Baptist in a 1 p.m. contest.
Tech plays its final home game on Saturday, Nov. 1., hosting East Central in a combined Homecoming/Senior Day contest, before hitting the road for the final two weeks of the season, traveling to Durant, Okla. to face Southeastern Oklahoma on Nov. 8 and going to Searcy, Ark. to close the regular season against Harding on Nov. 15
