FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Univ. of Ark.) – An afternoon thunderstorm would not prevent the University of Arkansas football team from its first full-pad practice of the season, as the team prepares for Saturday's scrimmage.
The Razorbacks opened its practice on their outdoor practice fields, but a thunderstorm 30 minutes into the training forced the team to quickly move inside to their indoor practice facility for the first time during fall camp.
Venue: Indoor Practice Field
Format: Full Pads
Highlights: Freshman wide out Jared Cornelius used a combination of speed and precise route running to get open several times during the drills, catching everything that came his way.
The defense shined in the second 11-on-11 drill of the day, as the secondary had a few acrobatic pass break ups from freshman safety De'Andre Coley and senior Carroll Washington. Senior safety Alan Turner continued the secondary's impressive play in the second 11-on-11, as he forced a fumble down field.
On offense, sophomore running back Korliss Marshall shifted through the trenches to break-off a pair of nice runs, and freshman receiver Kendrick Edwards made a sliding catch towards the end of the drill.
Defensive Coordinator Robb Smith on Alan Turner (@dread_head27): "Alan is the guy that we are hanging our hat on in the secondary. He is slotted at the strong side right now, but we may move him all around the field to get the most out of him. He is very versatile and will do what we ask of him."
De'Andre Coley (@DeAndreColey20) on improving his camp performance: "Coach Jennings showed me that he has other guys, they don't recruit for nothing. So he put the freshman in front of me and I didn't like that. Yesterday and today I showed them what I'm about, I have to be consistent and go hard every day."
Deatrich Wise Jr. (@WiseHog94) on what he wants to see out of scrimmage on Saturday: "I want to see everything coming together and everybody doing their job and the small details that make the big things happen."
