EF1 tornado touches down in Independence County, June 6

BATESVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) – The National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed that an EF1 tornado touched ground in Independence County Friday.

According to the Independence County Sheriff's Office, some damages have been reported, including damage to a business on White Drive called Mill Direct Flooring. In addition, John Robinson, with NOAA, said a tornado was also confirmed in Beedeville, where an old aircraft hangar was damaged. The remains of an old shop building were spread out across a field.

A representative with the sheriff's office said no injuries have been reported to them, but THV11's CNN affiliate KAIT reports that at least two people have experienced minor injuries after the roof of a daycare blew off near Highway 167 in Batesville.

The National Weather Service is working to determine the storm.
