Winds

Severe thunderstorms often produce damaging winds. These winds can down trees, large limbs and power lines. Structural damage can also result from these winds which are considered severe if wind speeds reach 58 mph or 50 knots or higher. straight-line winds can be at least as dangerous as an EF-0 tornado and can happen behind a line of storms, known as a bow echo. Anytime a severe thunderstorm is present you should always be aware of the danger of straight-line winds.
