Born in Ohio, J.D.’s family moved to Arkansas when he was almost three. He grew up in Bryant, but moved to Fort Worth, Texas after 6th grade. After two years, his family moved back to Saline County, but J.D. turned his back on the Hornets to become a Benton Panther.
After high school, he attended Henderson University where he graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Media with a focus on Film and Television.
J.D. became an intern at THV11 right out of college. He hung around for a few months until he got a job as the 9 a.m. and THV11 This Morning Saturday producer. He eventually became a producer on THV11 This Morning before moving to THV11 News at 10. Then in June 2016, J.D. took over the 6 and 6:30 p.m. newscasts.
