LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Julissa originally decided to pursue a pre-med degree. However, she soon realized that telling the stories of others was her true calling.
Growing up watching the news as a child, Julissa was constantly in awe of the anchors who not only told stories of the community but captured her attention while doing it.
Deciding to follow her dream, Julissa graduated from Sam Houston State University where she majored in mass communication with an emphasis in multi-platform journalism and a minor in political science.
During her time at Sam Houston State, she was part of their Cable 7 newscast, she also was part of ‘The Underreported’ on Dan Rather’s News and Guts. Julissa also interned at the NBC affiliate news station in Houston.
Julissa loves being a journalist and believes story telling is a way to connect people through a camera lens.
Before coming to Little Rock, she worked at the ABC affiliate station in Corpus Christi, Texas. While there, she covered a wide range of topics throughout the Coastal Bend. Including the COVID-19 pandemic, Tropical Storm Nicholas, and even going to New Orleans to cover post Hurricane Ida.
Julissa is excited to be in Little Rock and eager to tell the stories of the Natural State.
In her free time, she loves trying new local coffee shops so if you have a recommendation send it her way.
