Skot Covert is a lifelong Arkansan who has had an eye on the sky since he was a young kid.

At an early age, Skot was terrified of severe thunderstorms, though with time that fear morphed into an interest and eventually a passion. Now Skot is self-admittedly obsessed with severe storms, including tornadoes and hurricanes.

Skot joined the THV11 Weather Team in March of 2020 after spending three years providing remote weather forecasts for various locations around the country. Skot has covered a wide range of weather phenomena, from blizzards, tornado outbreaks, and historic hurricanes.

In 2019, Skot had the rare opportunity to fly directly into the eye of Hurricane Dorian, a category 5, with the world renowned Hurricane Hunters.

Skot is a proud graduate of Arkansas Tech University and Mississippi State University.

Skot believes in the importance of being active within the community. He volunteers as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas and a foster for NovaSTAR Animal Rescue. Additionally, he serves as the Governor’s appointee to the State Emergency Response Commission, and is the President-elect of the Arkansas Tech University Alumni Board.
