BATESVILLE, Ark. — Discover Arkansas travels to Batesville, Ark. to check out a brand new park in the downtown area.

Kyle Christopher with the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce mentioned to THV11’s Adam Bledsoe the new park, Maxfield Park, opened for the public in October, 2019.

This area was once known as an eye sore but is now chalked up as another destination for families to enjoy in the downtown Batesville area. The park is equipped with plenty of nooks and fun spots for children of all ages to enjoy.

Danny Dozier is involved in revitalizing downtown Batesville and took lead as project manager for Maxfield Park. Danny incorporated a stage for community concerts, and very fancy bathroom, and a water feature for guests to lounge in nearby park benches.

The park is located across a set of railroad tracks from a bayou, which is becoming a popular kayaking destination.

Danny and Kyle stated there are plans to work towards making this general area of Batesville more of a tourist destination while keeping the local appeal.
