Finance analytics company WalletHub surveyed all 50 states and the District of Columbia to find the top school systems. The report went across 25 key measures of quality, performance and safety. The data set includes pupil-teacher ratio, dropout rate, median standardized test scores, bullying and more.

The states with the best school systems are:

5. Vermont

The states with the lowest ranking school systems are:

48. Alaska

49. District of Columbia

50. Louisiana
