Arkansas Democrat-Gazette rolls out free iPads for subscribers

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette is turning 200-years-old this year but its legacy and tradition is not stopping the newspaper from moving full force into the future.

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette is turning 200-years-old this year but its legacy and tradition is not stopping the newspaper from moving full force into the future.

Now, Arkansans can purchase an iPad subscription which includes a free iPad. The iPad offers an exact replica of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette with added features.

"It's a lot more interactive. We have slide shows. We have video. You know, when the Arkansas River flooded a few weeks ago, we had ten videos on the front page," said Publisher Walter Hussman.

Subscribers can also use the iPad for email, apps, music and more.

Read Hussman's letter to subscribers explaining why the newspaper started the iPad subscription service.
