Start reading to your kids early!

The Central Arkansas Library System has a fun program that rewards your little ones for every book they read.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Reading a book to your baby, toddler, or preschooler has numerous benefits. CALS wants every child to reach the goal of reading 1,000 books before they start kindergarten. If you read just 1 book a night, you will have read about 365 books in a year. That is 730 books in two years and 1,095 books in three years.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten is a national challenge and CALS is a participant. They have events around the program, such as the storytime at Rooker Library.

There are reading logs available online and to download and print. There are also book recommendations.
