8-year-old opens online bow tie store to honor father who was murdered

"My dad is the big CEO of the job, like a guardian angel CEO," Kylan said.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - A Little Rock 8-year-old has a new title: CEO.

In many ways, Kylan Robinson is a typical kid. He loves basketball, playing games on his iPad and riding his hoverboard.

However, the young entrepreneur opened Swag Ky Bow Ties & More this week. It's an online store selling bow ties, backpacks, socks and other apparel.

The website launched on Father's Day in memory of Kylan's dad.

"This is our first Father's Day apart," Kylan said.

His father, Loren Robinson, was shot and killed on July 24, 2017 while sitting in a car on Stardust Trail in Little Rock. The case remains unsolved.

"His dad is not the only one, so we want to set an example anyway," Kylan's mom, Tennika Stokes, said. "We haven't forgot about our loved ones and we still want justice for them just like anyone else would."

Stokes said the last year has been difficult on her family, but she is encouraged by her son's ability to stay positive amid the grief.

"I want to keep going for him because it's enjoyable to see that you're not in grief as a typical person would be. Use this as something positive and let it fuel where you want to go in life," Stokes said.

More than anything, Kylan hopes the store helps keep his dad's story alive.

"My dad is the big CEO of the job, like a guardian angel CEO," Kylan said.

Anyone with information on the death of Loren Robinson is asked to call the Little Rock Police Department.
