Tips to avoid getting a flood-damaged vehicle | The Auto Coach

THV11's Auto Coach gives us tips on how to avoid buying a flood-damaged vehicle.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – With recent flooding in our state and surrounding states, it’s important to be cautious and aware if you’re in line to buy a new vehicle.

Jamie Cobb at Gwatney Automotive is our “Auto Coach” with tips to avoid finding a faulty car.

First tip is to run a ‘Carfax’ report. A Carfax report is going to give you title history, if the vehicle has hand an insurance claim filed against it and that would denote any flood damage that occurred to the vehicle.

Secondly, you must look for signs like dash lights being on, electronics not working; power seats/windows and door locks not working.

The third thing to look for is water damage. Rust or odors in the spare tire area and engine compartment, check under trunk mats.

These are tips to help you make a good decision on whether or not you want to purchase a certain vehicle.
