East Village Street Food Jam to celebrate area's growth, development

The Downtown Little Rock Partnership is hosting the event to highlight the recent developments.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – A unique food truck festival is coming to Little Rock’s East Village to highlight the area's new developments.

The East Village Street Food Jam will take place on the Clinton Center lawn on Saturday, June 16, when 22 food trucks and live bands will be in attendance.

"People can enjoy conversation with everybody, the live music and the atmosphere of the East Village,” Anderson Penix with the Downtown Partnership said.

East Village is loaded with construction and new buildings going up. For example, E-Stem and a new restaurant have just moved in.

"East Village is well on its way to becoming revitalized,” Penix said.

To celebrate, the Downtown Little Rock Partnership is throwing the Street Food Jam. It is unique in that it will be a "silent" food truck festival.

"Usually a food truck will run on a generator. We had the idea to come over to the Clinton Center where they have the capacity to plug in food trucks to the power grid. That allows them to leave the generators at home and it makes for a more pleasant experience,” Penix said.

Olivia Geels with Rock Dental Brands said the company is moving to the East Village because of the area's potential.

"We've seen some of the plans and I have no doubt it's going to be a great with E-Stem going in there, Cromwell, Catheads,” she said.

The food truck jam is tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Clinton Center.

The event is $5 at the door, which includes live music.
