Louie's Legacy: 9-year-old terminally ill boy thanks everyone who sent him mail

Louie is going to the hospital Thursday where his family expects him to have a few days left.

A 9-year-old terminally ill boy, who captured the hearts of people all over the world with his request for letters, said he's ready to be with Jesus. So, he made a list of things he wants to do during his last days on earth. THV11 is helping check one of those requests off the list.

“It’s pretty crazy to think people in 30-plus countries know the name of my son," said Louie’s mom, Kristy Schneider.

Louie loves mail and with his body shutting down, he knows his days are numbered.

“Louie doesn’t need more mail, but I hope his legacy will live and for Louie, that legacy is knowing that the only two eternal things; they aren’t mail, it’s faith in God and loving people well. That’s what Louie does," Schneider said.

We first told you about Louie a few weeks ago when he was hoping to get letters from every state.

Well, complete strangers helped him far surpass that goal, with thousands upon thousands of letters from not only every state, but over 30 countries, plus some cool gifts from some local heroes.

Now, Louie is trying to complete his list of “Louie’s Last Adventures.” The list includes going to church, drinking a milkshake and making a thank you video on the news for people who sent him mail.

“Because I’m ready to be with Jesus,” Louie said.

To check off one of those final adventures, Louie is sharing his ‘thank you’ on THV11.

“Thank you for my mail and I love you," Louie said to everyone who sent him mail.

Louie is going to the hospital Thursday where his family expects him to have a few days left. They don't need any more letters. Instead, they ask that everyone remembers Louie's legacy.
