How you can celebrate 'Anti-Valentine's Day' in Central Arkansas

Feeling heartbroken this Valentine's Day? You might find these ideas therapeutic.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Valentine's Day is often exciting for people sharing their life with that special someone. For those dealing with heartbreak, on the other hand, it's a less-welcomed holiday.

With that in mind, there are several anti-Valentine's Day options allowing all the singles in Central Arkansas to have some fun and rid themselves of the past.

Museum of Discovery

At the Museum of Discovery in downtown Little Rock, you can give the gift of a roach. For $10, you can name a roach after an ex, someone else you're not fond of (or even someone you love) that will be fed to Big Momma, the museum's bearded dragon.

The museum has been posting videos of Big Mama enjoying her treats, along with a reading of the honorees' names.

If you prefer a sweeter gift, you can purchase a “berry bouquet” in your valentine’s honor to be fed to the museum's possums.

Little Rock Zoo

Love Your Zoo, but NOT your EX? Support animal enrichment at the Little Rock Zoo this Valentine's Day.

The zoo's "Unvalentine's Day" event provides a chance to throw an old Valentine to the lions.

For a $10 donation to animal enrichment, enter a name or memory in the zoo's “broken hearts” box. At 11 a.m. Friday, the box will be thrown in, and the lions will tear up the bad memories.

Flying Saucer

If you want to treat yourself (or drown your sorrows), look no further than Flying Saucer in the Little Rock River Market.

Flying Saucer will have half-off wine and champagne all day Friday. You can also show up with a picture of your ex, shred it, and get a free soft pretzel.
