Little Rock businesses gear up for 'Galentine's Day' on Feb. 13

We all know Valentine's is a day where you show your significant other some extra love, but the day *before Valentine's Day is also becoming its own holiday.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - We all know Valentine's is a day where you show your significant other some extra love, but the day *before Valentine's Day is also becoming its own holiday.

Galentine’s Day is a holiday created by the Amy Poehler’s Parks and Rec character Leslie Knope. Every Feb. 13, the day before Valentine’s, friends get together to celebrate ladies being ladies!

"Love doesn't have to be just the typical dating!” Morgan Maxwell said.

If you've never celebrated Galentine's Day, you are missing out.

"You have the date night on Valentine's day and then you can have your girls night the night before,” Abbi Siler said

The unofficial holiday has grown in popularity over the years. Businesses like Abbi's Teas and Things are getting in on the fun.

"We're having a Galentine's day tea party!” owner Abbi Siler said.

Siler said Wednesday's party will, of course, include lots of tea and sweet treats. There will be lunch tea and dinner tea. Siler said to call before Tuesday at noon to book a reservation.

"You can come with one girlfriend or you can come with up to six girlfriends,” she said. “But we have made our Galentine’s Day inclusive to include all our guy friends, too!”

And Galentine's day doesn't necessarily have to be for the gals, it can also mean just eating a “GAL”lon of ice cream.

"Galentine's Day for us means we're going to do a gallon of ice cream which is ten scoops of ice cream and ten toppings,” Morgan Maxwell with Loblolly Creamery said.

Maxwell said the ice cream shop takes the holiday seriously. The Gallontine is only available Wednesday and Thursday.

"The Gallontine is a really fun, monster thing with whipped cream and a bunch of cherries, it's massive,” she said.

It also includes special valentine’s flavors: Rose, black forest cake, chocolate noir to name a few! Loblolly also has a special dessert tray and treats like marshmallows and smores to pick up on the way out.

"With pop culture, more people are trying to find that cute fun thing to do with their friends. We've had a bigger response this year than last year. I think more people are getting in on the idea of it,” Maxwell said.

Other businesses throwing their own Galentine’s Day include:
