'Uber for lawn care': Find, schedule, pay your lawn guy with new app

If you don't want to mow your yard yourself, and don't know who to turn to, we've got the new technology that can help.

With the amount of rain we've seen this year, your grass is probably growing like crazy. If you don't want to mow it yourself, and don't know who to turn to, we've got the new technology that can help.

"Greenpal has been described as Uber for lawn care," explains founder Gene Caballero.

He started the app in Nashville seven years ago.

"It's the easiest way for homeowners to find, schedule and pay their lawn guy," he said.

Here's how it works: You download the app, fill out your information, pick out a date to have your lawn mowed, let them know if you have pets, how often your lawn gets cut, how picky you are about your lawn, if you'd like any other garden services, and you'll get bids from several different people.

"For a regular, well-maintained lawn," he said, "anywhere between $35 and $45."

The app just came to Little Rock about a month ago.

"So far," he said, "it's going pretty well. We have about 30 local landscaping professionals."

One of them is Maruice Bey.

"I do the yard," explained Bey, "I also do the hedges and shrubs and trimming, I do pretty much everything."

He said he's seen his business increase thanks to the app.

"It's changed tremendously, I'm talking about picking up everyday. I can't complain. It's been a good year."

Caballero said his goal is to be in every state by the end of the year. Eventually, they hope to expand from lawn care, and be the app that people can go to get all types of work done on their homes.
