1 dog drowns at Arkadelphia humane society, shelter needing donations

Due to several inches of water falling in Arkadelphia, a dog has drowned at the Humane Society of Clark County.

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — UPDATE: All 72 dogs are in foster homes! 

Due to several inches of water falling in Arkadelphia, a dog has drowned at the Humane Society of Clark County. About six inches of rain has fallen in the last seven hours.

Board President for Humane Society of Clark County Janie Allen said when she arrived at 3 a.m. there were several inches of water inside the building. The dogs outside the building were treading water.  

The Humane Society of Clark County is asking for monetary donations after losing food, litter, equipment, and damages to the building.

Several local businesses are assisting the shelter but they are still needing more help.
