Allsopp & Chapple eatery entwined with history as former location of bookstore

This great restaurant brings history and food together!

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Five reasons to check out the new downtown hot spot Allsopp & Chapple

1.)    The restaurant is named after the old Allsopp & Chapple Bookstore. It was housed in the same location as the current restaurant and was once the premier bookseller in Arkansas, occupying the historic Rose Building shortly after it was constructed. Established by Fred W. Allsopp and James Chapple, the bookstore was a mainstay in downtown Little Rock for over six decades.

2.)    As an homage to the history of the building and the old bookstore, Allsopp & Chapple has created a warm environment like you’d encounter in an old bookstore. They’re also adding unique cocktails to the menu that are created with literary heroes in mind.

3.)    Inside the restaurant, you can find gorgeous old photos of what downtown Little Rock looked like when Allsopp & Chapple was still a bookstore. Take the time to look at the walls while you’re there to see the amazing history.

4.)    The restaurant is a fine dining location with amazing steaks and unique creations from their nationally recognized chef, Bonner Cameron. It’s a great place for a date night.

5.)    The restaurant focuses on American cuisine, focusing on blending the traditional with the new. Chef Bonner said he tries to take food ideas from around the globe and blend them into a unique cuisine. They also use local products as much as possible.
