2 dead after Ward police respond to domestic disturbance

After Ward officers were dispatched to a "possible domestic disturbance" Monday afternoon, they found two dead.

WARD, Ark. — After Ward officers were dispatched to a "possible domestic disturbance" Monday around 2:30 p.m. to a home on Moonridge Drive, they found two individuals dead.

The 911 call came from a third party, according to authorities. The caller said that the estranged-husband of one of the victim had "entered the residence and was threatening the victim."

When Ward police officers arrived and were unable to reach anyone in the home, the Lonoke County Sheriff's Office helped gain entry where two bodies were found deceased, police say.

The bodies were later identified as 41-year-old Kameron Shafer and 40-year-old Robert Shafer.

Police said the investigation indicates the death of Kameron Shafer was a homicide and Robert Shafer died by suicide.
