Man arrested for murder of Hot Springs man found dead in backseat of car

According to Hot Springs police, officers were responding to a welfare check when they found Tristan Smith dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — According to Hot Springs police, on July 4 at around 10 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Mica and Maiden Street for a welfare check, when they found 23-year-old Tristan Smith dead from an apparent gunshot wound in the backseat of a car.

On July 7, officers arrested 20-year-old Christopher Gipson in connection to Smith's death. Gipson is charged with Capital Murder, Aggravated Robbery, and Theft by Receiving.

He is being held at the Garland County Detention Center on a zero bond.
