FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) - A suspect in the slaying of two Arkansas residents is scheduled to appear in a western Arkansas courtroom following his arrest on first-degree murder and other charges.

Authorities in Sebastian County say 29-year-old Marcus Collins is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday in connection with the July 26 deaths of 26-year-old Brionna Belcher and 43-year-old Jonathan Harris. Collins was booked into the Sebastian County Detention Center last week after he was apprehended by U.S. marshals in Memphis, Tennessee.

The victims were found shot to death at an apartment in Fort Smith. Investigators say they each sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe the slayings were the result of a robbery that escalated.

Another man, 19-year-old Neirod Medlock, has also been arrested in the case.
