Confederate monument in Little Rock vandalized with unknown chemical

On Thursday, the statue was removed to prevent further damage, assess the current damages, and repair.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark — A Confederate monument at MacArthur Park in Little Rock has been vandalized.

According to a spokesperson for the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas, an unknown chemical was used to vandalize the base of the Capitol Guard Statue on Monday afternoon.

The chemical caused discoloration to the statue.

On Thursday, the spokesperson said the statue was was removed and the base is covered to prevent further damage and assess the current damages.
