Victim identified in West Little Rock homicide

The Little Rock Police Department has now identified the 18-year-old victim in the West Little Rock homicide that happened on Tuesday afternoon.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Update: The Little Rock Police Department has now identified the victim in Tuesday afternoon's homicide as 18-year-old Ja’Markeise Gage.

Reports state that he died of an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. The body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsy. 

Shortly before 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, officers with the Little Rock Police Department responded to the 11500 block of West Markham Street with reports of a shooting.

According to reports, once officers arrived at the scene they found a deceased victim at the intersection of Markham and Chenal.

Police advise the public to take an alternate route if they are traveling through the area.

The investigation into this incident remains ongoing and we will update with more information as soon as it becomes available.
