Hot Springs police add charges to murder suspect, identify woman killed Saturday

Hot Springs police identified the woman who was killed on Saturday on N. Patterson Street just after 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Hot Springs police identified the woman who was killed on Saturday at N. Patterson Street just after 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Police were dispatched to the home from reports of a shooting that had taken place.

Upon arrival they found a female victim, now identified as Stephanie Mailcoat, 40, suffering from a gunshot wound, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A male identified as Levar Strickland was arrested and transported to the Hot Springs Police Department.

Strickland, 42, was initially charged with criminal use of a prohibited weapon and possession of a defaced firearm. 

On June 24, Strickland was charged with second-degree murder and three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, which is a felony, in addition to the previously mentioned charges.

He is being held on a $600,000 bond at the Garland County Detention Center.
