Jefferson County Sheriff's Office investigate fatal pedestrian accident

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating the report of a pedestrian accident.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AR (KTHV)- The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the report of a pedestrian accident.

At approximately 7:40 p.m., on Saturday, Dec. 8, sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Gravel Pit Road, near Highway 365 to the report of a 39-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle, said Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Operation Commander, Major Lafayette Woods, Jr.

The pedestrian was identified as John Sloan of White Hall. The motorist of the vehicle that reportedly struck Sloan has been identified as Scott Allen, 54, who at the time of the accident was accompanied by his wife, Susie Allen. Allen was not injured in the accident.

Allen reported that Sloan was walking along Gravel Pit Road near Highway 365 when the collision occurred.

Sloan’s body will be sent to the State Crime Laboratory for an autopsy by the State Medical Examiner to determine the official cause and manner of death, said Jefferson County Coroner, Chad Kelly.

The accident is under investigation.
