Johnson County Sheriff's Office captures 29-year-old murder suspect

The manhunt for a murder suspect ended Sunday, Feb. 24 after a pursuit that ended in a crash according to police.

JOHNSON COUNTY, Ark — On Sunday, Feb. 24, the Johnson County Sheriff's Office received a tip from a local citizen of a possible location of Robert Baker, wanted on murder charges deriving from last week’s murder of Christopher Farmer.

Officers observed Robert Baker driving a vehicle in the area where the tip was described. Contact was attempted to be made with Baker when he attempted to flee from officers. Following, contact was made between the vehicle Baker was driving and a police unit resulting in a motor vehicle crash.

Officers identified the driver of the vehicle as Robert Baker and a female passenger in the vehicle as Jackie Farmer. Both individuals were taken into custody without further incident. 

Johnson County EMS was dispatched to the scene to check both subjects for injuries. Both subjects were then transported to the Johnson County Detention Center where the investigation continues. 

No officers were injured in the apprehension of Baker and Farmer. The vehicle was towed to an impound yard by ASAP Wrecker Service.
