Man shot and killed by police in Pope County after stepping out of vehicle with knife

A man was shot and killed by a Pope County Sheriff's Deputy in Conway County after a chase when officers said he brandished a knife.

POPE COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - A Pope County Sheriff's deputy pulled over a man in Conway County and shot the man when he brandished a knife, a release from the Arkansas State Police said.

Police say that 22-year-old Haze Martin of Siloam Springs emerged from the vehicle with the knife after a police chase ended in Conway County. The chase began on Interstate 40 and continued east.

No law enforcement officers were hurt during the incident. Arkansas State Police is investigating the shooting and will submit their findings to Pope and Conway Counties.
