Police across Arkansas receive false bomb threats related to nationwide scam

Multiple bomb threats have been reported in cities across the country Thursday, Dec. 13, including in Conway and Little Rock, Arkansas.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Multiple bomb threats have been reported in cities across the country Thursday, Dec. 13, including in Conway and Little Rock, Arkansas.

According to the Conway police and fire departments, two bomb threats were sent to Conway businesses on Thursday, Dec. 13.

One bomb threat was emailed to Target around 1:45 p.m. Both agencies quickly got to scene, evacuated the building and searched it, but nothing was found.

This threat along with the second is believed to be related to a nationwide scam where threats are called into businesses and even schools.

The Little Rock Police Department received a call to St. James United Methodist Church on Pleasant Valley Drive, in reference to en email that appeared to be a bomb threat.

The police department and the Little Rock Bomb Squad found no creditable evidence that this email is authentic. It appeared to be a robo-email that they have confirmed was sent to several locations in separate states and also other cities in Central Arkansas.

In some cases across the country, the sender tried to scam the receiver out of money.

If you received this email, the Little Rock Police Department encourages you to make sure you follow your companies bomb threat procedures. However, any business that receives such a threat is cautioned not to ignore it.

Hot Springs Police Department have also received the e-mail scam and warned people to not pay any money.

If you received a bomb threat, please call 911 so it can be properly investigated.
