(KTHV) - A disturbing video clip of child pornography is circulating on Facebook.

Law enforcement agencies everywhere are issuing alerts in case you come across it.

Facebook users are asking others to share the clip, which shows a man and a young girl, in an effort to identify the abuser. However, authorities caution against sharing the video. They say that, by sharing it, you are distributing child pornography and may be prosecuted.

Instead, alert police and report the clip to Facebook utilizing the following steps from your mobile device:

  1. Click on the video to expand it.
  2. Hover over the video and click "Options" in the bottom-right corner.
  3. Click "Report Video."
  4. Select the option that best describes the issue and follow the on-screen instructions.

If you are on a desktop computer:

  1. Click on the post's option menu in the upper-right corner (represented by three horizontal dots).
  2. Click "Give Feedback On This Post." On some post you may need to expand the full menu first.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

If you receive the clip in your personal inbox, delete it after reporting it.

Investigators believe that the clip originated in Alabama.
