Prosecutor closes investigation into former Arkansas State University chancellor

A case against the former chancellor of Arkansas State University is now considered closed.

JONESBORO, Ark. — Prosecutors say they won't file criminal charges against a former Arkansas State University chancellor who resigned two years ago.

Former Chancellor Tim Hudson stepped down after an internal audit criticized the university's study-abroad program, which was run at the time by Hudson's wife. The audit also questioned some of Hudson's travel expenses.

Prosecutor Scott Ellington said Monday that the case was brought to a grand jury, which did not find enough evidence for criminal charges. Ellington says the case is now considered closed.

Hudson immediately resigned from the chancellor position, which paid $360,000 per year. He was later hired at Austin Peay University in Tennessee.
