Searcy man arrested for rape now faces human trafficking charge

John Ronald Ord of Searcy was arrested on rape charges in May and is now facing a new charge for human trafficking.

SEARCY, Ark. — A Searcy man who was arrested on rape charges in May is now facing a new charge for human trafficking.

John Ronald Ord, 49, was arrested on May 17. 

A report was made from an adult victim that Ord had sexually assaulted him since he was 12 years old. Detectives obtained a search warrant and found drugs, drug paraphernalia, and firearms in his place of residence. 

At the time, Ord's charges were Rape, Y Felony, Possession of a Controlled Substance with intent to deliver, Class C Felony, two counts Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Class B and D Felony, Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms, Class Y Felony, Use of a Communication Device, Class C Felony, and Maintaining a Drug Premises, Class D Felony.

He was transported to the White County Law Enforcement Center and his bond was held at $200,000.

On June 21, new evidence was found to substantiate a new charge of Trafficking of Persons.

Ord was denied of a bond reduction on June 26 by Judge Robert Edwards due to the seriousness of charges and the potential for life sentences. Ord's bond remains at $200,000.
