LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Catholic High School's JROTC Physical Fitness Team had a big weekend.

The six man team, led by Sergeant Major R.S. Jernigan, took first place at the national fitness competition in San Diego. That makes back to back national championships for the group, and getting there was no walk in the park. They had to face 17 other schools across the country.

“A lot of hard work. A lot of early morning, giving up mornings working out and sometimes lunch,” Sergeant Major Jernigan said of the win.

Friends and family welcomed the group home Sunday evening, congratulating them on their win.

Sergeant Major Jernigan has led the team for the last eight years and brought home first place five times.
