Many learn about the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention through the Out of the Darkness walks.
In the beginning, only a few came out to walk against suicide, but they sparked a movement that gains momentum each year.
In 2004, there were 24 walks with 4,000 walkers. In 2017, they're expecting 415 community walks and 250,000 walkers. Won't you come be a part of the change?
The walk is set for November 5, 2017, at Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Check-in and registration opens at 12 p.m. The walk starts at 2:15 p.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m.
Their goal this year is $145,000 dollars. As of October 27, they raised over $55,000.
The route is a 3-mile walk. A stroller and handicap route can be found here. Registration to be a part of the walk ends November 3.
